A Key Battleground
Keplar 609C is a critical planet in the Under Dark’s fight to contain humanity’s galactic expansion. Originally a quiet, lightly inhabited planet, Keplar 609C was a remote trading outpost far off the beaten path and of no significant importance. That all changed when Promethium was discovered in the planet soil and outer rings. This new source of Promethium, being a key component of deep space travel, caught the attention of Helix Industries and their military minded rivals, Endline Solutions. A massive mining operation was set up at the planet’s polar cap and outer rings, and suddenly, Keplar 609C became a major player in the galaxy economy.
Neotropolis, the only city on the planet, went from a small trading post, to a bustling metropolis where creatures from all across the stars come to trade, meet, supply and indulge in all the city has to offer. Helix Corp and Endline have been vying for control of the city and planet, and while no one officially runs the planet, these two entities are clearly in control. Helix uses its massive economic power to exert influence, while Endline employs a more direct, and brutal method of control though the Sentinel Force, tasked to keep law and order.
Amidst this clash of giants, there exists an organized Resistance, dedicated to fighting their greed and violence and returning autonomy and freedom to the populace of Neotropolis.
The Keplar Strategy
The Under Dark’s main purpose on Keplar 609C is to try and limit humanity’s exclusive access to Promethium. They are employing all methods of influence to ensure all creatures and civilizations are able to benefit from this Promethium source. The Underdark’s contingent on Keplar 609C, led by Slag, Grymlin and Shrike, have inserted themselves into the bustling marketplaces of Neotropolis. Appearing as yet another merchant, they have designed a myriad of elaborate missions to help the fight by collecting intelligence on the human factions in the city, stealing important human tech, sowing discord amongst the warring human factions, and bringing all non human races closer together. They are also attempting to introduce a new currency into the city, one they control, to gain power and influence. Additionally, they are bringing in a significant arsenal of weapons to better arm those nonhuman individuals who are willing to fight humanity’s stronghold on Promethium.
In addition to this main mission, the Under Dark is also dedicated to fighting for fair treatment and equal living conditions for all non-human denizens of Neotropolis. It is planning on using the influence of its introduced currency and increased popularity within the city to pressure city officials to provide better conditions and equal access to resources for all nonhuman denizens.
